Chad Buchanan is an international fashion, entertainment, press photographer and technical media artist. A native Californian, with more than 20 years of professional experience in the industry.
My desire to pursue a career in photography and video began as a teenager in the San Francisco Bay Area when I had the opportunity to snap photos while standing in the front row at concerts watching bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana.
After attending college in the Midwest, I moved to Los Angeles when I was 23 to enjoy the year-round sunshine, and to seek out my dream career in Hollywood. In order to understand and experience what the other side of the camera was all about, I initially worked as a model and commercial actor, and then I took a job as a Production Assistant in TV/Film.
My first break as a photographer was working on a Hollywood TV set doing on set still photography. Then my big break came when I moved to NYC in 1998. I was shooting look books for modeling agencies like Elite and IMG when I was approached by Vogue to shoot fashion related events for their then new website Vogue.com.
Suddenly I was working along side famous photographers like Patrick McMullan and learning what it takes to make famous people look fabulous.
It was great fun, and yet challenging at the same time. From that time on, I have been shooting entertainment and fashion stories, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my career.
In 2010 I moved to Berlin, Germany to be closer to my family and to pursue an international career status. I have traveled frequently to Los Angeles, New York, Paris and multiple other locations for a variety of media assignments.
Over the past years, I have developed an extensive range of photographic, video and cutting-edge technical skills, and I have become highly proficient in all facets of my work, including drone photography.
